About The Position

University Partners is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Property Accountant to join our growing accounting team. In this role, you will assist with the accounting execution for assigned student housing properties, prepare accurate and timely financial statements, and support property-level financial operations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 1+ years of prior Real Estate property-level accrual basis accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel application
  • Candidate needs to be coachable, enthusiastic, creative, flexible, display strong technical aptitude, detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Student housing or multifamily property accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with Entrata, MRI, and/or Yardi accounting software preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting, including full accounts payable processing, journal entries, monthly accruals/amortizations, and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Responsible for multiple student housing properties within Company portfolio.
  • Respond to Property Managers’ questions regarding monthly charges, invoice coding, and month-end reporting.
  • Assist with preparation of annual budget.
  • Review monthly charges, Gross Potential Rent report, and other AR balances.
  • Calculate monthly property management fees and process payments.
  • Prepare month-end reporting packages and review and analyze budget-to-actual variances.
  • Prepare annual work papers and reconciliations for year-end tax returns and external audit.
  • Assist Property Accounting Manager and Vice President with cash flow analyses.
