Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join our Hazardous Materials team in our Edmonton, AB office. Pinchin makes buildings and environments better. Pinchin is hiring a Project Technologist in Hazardous Materials in Edmonton. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and is being filled as a replacement role. This role is about more than inspections, it’s about shaping safer, healthier, and more sustainable spaces for people and communities. As a Project Technologist, you’ll contribute to critical health and safety initiatives by assessing buildings, conducting site inspections, supporting air monitoring and sampling programs, preparing technical reports, and working closely with clients to meet their goals. You’ll join a team that blends deep experience with fresh perspectives, offering mentorship, collaboration, and technical expertise every step of the way. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or Applied Environmental Science, or College diploma with an Environmental focus, or equivalent.
  • Ability to use digital tablets and new applications which are constantly evolving
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to carry/climb ladders/tools (at least 50lbs) during surveys and ability to wear respirators for extended periods of time
  • Strong organization skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and a personal vehicle required
  • Availability to travel to clients’ sites across Alberta (short-term work-related travel required)
  • Availability to work outside of core business hours
  • Availability to work occasional weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS), or a certification in OHS (CRSP, CRST, OHST) is an asset
  • Experience on construction or industrial sites is an asset
  • Ability to read technical reports, drawings and specifications is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive building assessments for hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, PCBs, etc., included the collection of samples.
  • Perform oversight reviews and air monitoring for various hazardous material and chemical agents during construction and abatement projects
  • Analyze asbestos air samples via Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) and interpret sample results in relation to legislative requirements
  • Prepare assessment reports detailing methodologies, findings, conclusions and recommendations concerning the management, control and removal of hazardous materials
  • Manage project schedules effectively and efficiently
  • Liaise with clients and sub-contractors to ensure health, safety and hygiene needs are addressed and met
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships
