About The Position

Pinchin is seeking a Project Technologist to join their Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) team in Richmond, BC. This role involves supporting projects related to mould and water damage, indoor air quality, radon, fire and smoke damage, infection control, and hazardous materials assessments across various sectors. The position combines field work, technical problem-solving, client communication, and project coordination. Daily tasks include client site investigations, inspections, environmental sampling, analyzing findings, interpreting results, and preparing technical reports and recommendations. The role offers opportunities for career growth, including project management, mentoring junior staff, client relationship development, and future leadership roles.

Requirements

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, strong organization, and high attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and personal vehicle required, with availability to travel to client sites and work occasionally evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (construction, engineering, architecture, science, environment) is considered an asset, though we are open to candidates from a variety of educational and professional backgrounds.
  • Previous experience in indoor environmental quality, restoration, construction, facilities, environmental services, or consulting is considered an asset, but not required. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and interest in building a long-term career in consulting.
  • Experience with building construction or maintenance is an asset, but not required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Complete assessments for mould, indoor air quality (IAQ), designated substances and other hazardous materials.
  • Conduct interviews with clients regarding building history and site-specific client concerns.
  • Perform inspections and evaluate building systems.
  • Assess building damages related to floods, water losses, smoke, and fire.
  • Assist clients following flood and loss emergencies to get buildings dried, cleaned, or remediated and operational.
  • Collect a variety of air and bulk (mould, asbestos, lead, dust, bacteria, etc.) samples.
  • Interpret laboratory results.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and provide recommendations to address concerns.
  • Inspect abatement and restoration contractors undertaking mould, asbestos and other hazardous materials remediation work to document that the work has been properly completed.
