About The Position

Serves as a Project SUCCESS Coordinator in the Watertown Middle School and implements the program as specified. Will work with students individually and in small groups; will provide screenings of students; conduct classroom presentations; work with school wide awareness projects; consult on prevention issues with school staff and refer and follow up with students and families needing additional services. The Project SUCCESS Coordinator should be able to work effectively with others in a team relationship and should be able to relate to staff of the school and the Human Service Agency.

Requirements

  • Preferred credential or credential eligible.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health Education, Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Drug & Alcohol Studies, or related area.
  • Minimum of two years working with adolescents.
  • Strong people and positive interpersonal relationship skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working within a school setting
  • Knowledge/experience with alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention and/or counseling.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate school-wide environmental and universal prevention activities by working with youth leadership groups such as SADD and/or Peer Helpers.
  • Teaching prevention curriculum and/or providing presentations in classroom setting incorporating refusal, problem solving, and social skills.
  • Provide screenings of students.
  • Facilitates individual and group sessions.
  • Facilitates parent meetings, and/or parent groups.
  • Coordinate with faculty of the school on how to identify, assess, motivate, and refer students.
  • Coordinate referrals to mental health and substance use resources, services and programs as well as connect with other community resources.
  • Attend school and community meetings and work with key community sectors to support the student and the family such as Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) team; District Crisis team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned consistent with exempt functions
