About The Position

This position is open only to current employees of the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Applicants must serve and pass their six-month probation period in their current position in order to be eligible to apply. The Juvenile Division and the adult criminal practice division are actively integrating key workflows. That integration, combined with findings from recent data audits, has identified a clear need for dedicated leadership over the foundational practices that make cases work - e-Lodi, filing, docketing, and the data integrity behind them. This Special Duty Assignment gives the division a chance to build out and test this function before creating a permanent position.

Requirements

  • Experience with and knowledge of the juvenile justice system, its processes, and the roles within it is essential.
  • Demonstrated expertise with e-Lodi, case filing, docketing, or comparable case management/records processes within a legal or justice-system setting.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a near-perfect work product, with a track record of accuracy in high-volume, detail-driven work.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow workflow and process instructions precisely and consistently.
  • Strong working knowledge of data integrity and quality assurance principles, with the ability to build tools and reporting that track practice quality over time.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process gaps and bring forward workable solutions, not just flag problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate practices and requirements across teams with different workflows.
  • Ability to work independently and hands-on, balancing oversight of others' work with direct, individual contribution.
  • Experience building effective working relationships across divisions, including with attorneys, legal support staff, and other system partners.
  • A commitment to Race, Equity, and Social Justice work including ongoing cultural competence development.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the division's practice lead for e-Lodi, the case-building process through which law enforcement referrals are received and entered our case management system, the foundational step in the life of every case.
  • Ensure filing and docketing practices are consistent, correct, and documented across the division, validating that the work is being done correctly, not just performing it. Work hands-on as needed. This is a working role; the incumbent will step in and do the work directly, not only oversee it.
  • Build and monitor tools and processes to assess whether case-building and filing practices are sound.
  • Identify gaps and inconsistencies and bring forward solutions, not just problems.
  • Generate reporting that gives leadership visibility into practice quality over time.
  • Serve as the Juvenile Division's point of contact on the adult/juvenile workflow integration project, currently underway.
  • Translate practices between divisions, identify incompatibilities, and help shape improved practices.
  • Operate as a cross-functional resource for non-attorney staff with process questions.
