Requirements

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Understanding of municipal accounting practices, procurement procedures, and IRS reporting requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills, including accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to integrity, accuracy, and outstanding customer service.
  • Specialized training in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field beyond a high school diploma (Associate degree preferred).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience, preferably in a municipal or governmental environment.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain bonding.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable invoices and procurement card transactions.
  • Assist with procurement and purchasing activities.
  • Manage vendor documentation, including W-9 forms and annual 1099 reporting.
  • Process cash receipts, accounts receivable, and monthly customer billings.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Perform monthly general ledger and account reconciliations.
  • Compile financial data and prepare reports.
  • Assist with the City's annual operating budget and Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
  • Research financial information for Open Records Requests.
  • Provide excellent customer service to vendors, departments, government agencies, and the public.
  • Perform other accounting and financial support duties as assigned.
