About The Position

This role will manage all direct materials used in projects for the whole AMERICAS region, collaborating with Product Centers on make or buy decisions and aligning with long-term strategic goals. The Project Procurement Manager will be a key member of the Sales proposal team, responsible for establishing the Supply Plan, identifying materials, defining suppliers, and negotiating contracts. The role also involves managing the project procurement scope after award, supplier performance rating, and collaborating with Category Management, Global Procurement, and the Solution Center to standardize designs and achieve savings.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or commercial degree with good technical knowledge.
  • Minimal 3-5 years' experience in operational and strategic purchasing.
  • Supply Chain Management experience in comparable industries and project-oriented solutions (discrete manufacturing industries; not in process industries like chemical, pharma, nutrition; not in pure service companies like banking, insurance).
  • Good knowledge of contract and local regulations.
  • Good negotiation skills.
  • Fluent communication in English (ideally mother language); in written and spoken.
  • Good and proven knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • SAP R3 MM (Material Management) with focus on purchasing transactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma in Purchasing (e.g. CIPS certificate).
  • MBA; ideally in Supply Chain Management.
  • Any other language besides English & German is beneficial.
  • Work experience in an international company with multiple sites.
  • Work experience in project business comparable to intralogistics projects (size of projects; technology in HW, SW and automation).
  • Experience as Project Manager to manage trans-regional projects with multiple sites.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all direct materials used in projects (New Business & Customer Service) for the whole AMERICAS region.
  • Collaborate with Product Centers to align make or buy decisions with long-term strategic goals.
  • Be a member of the Sales proposal team during the Sales phase, establishing the Supply Plan and identifying materials to be approached.
  • Define suppliers to be requested in cooperation with Category leads, Global Purchasing, the Local Project Team, and the Product Center.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders on scope, requirements, and specifications.
  • Establish the Project Roadmap, listing all materials and related suppliers, with ongoing updates for transparency of quotes.
  • Approach suppliers for first quotes, pre-negotiations, and final negotiations.
  • Propose the budget calculation (PCO) per material to the Sales project team, ideally based on a fixed quote.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to evaluate the best price-performance ratio.
  • Apply relevant purchasing conditions (project-specific & using Standard Terms & Conditions or supplier agreements).
  • Draft, review, and negotiate work contracts and other agreements as needed.
  • Manage the Project Procurement scope during the project after award.
  • Rate suppliers after project completion (latest +6 months after PAC) and share ratings with suppliers for review and corrective actions.
  • Share supplier performance with the responsible Category Lead.
  • Support supplier audits.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers and external partners for the project.
  • Collaborate with and involve the Category team when specific material groups (Autostore, Racking, Installations) are used for the project.
  • Ensure close alignment so the Category team applies correct specifications for materials and related project conditions.
  • Align closely with Category leads regarding global supply base development.
  • Participate in joint optimizations of tools and methods with Global Procurement.
  • Collaborate closely with the Solution Center teams across Europe.
  • Standardize the design with a focus on PowerStore Racking and CycloneCarrier Racking together with PTC/LGSTC and related suppliers.
  • Define and realize savings potential in the third-party materials for the project.
