About The Position

Merjent, Inc. (Merjent) has exciting opportunities for entry- to mid-level Project Planners with demonstrated interest in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or environmental policy. Technical knowledge of the NEPA process as well as other statutes such as the National Historic Preservation Act, the Endangered Species Act, and similar is preferred. These are full-time benefits eligible opportunities that can be based anywhere in the United States. The anticipated annual salary for these positions is between $61,800 and $67,000 annually, depending upon qualifications and experience. These positions are bonus eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental studies, public policy or closely related field.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience or familiarity with federal land management agencies, or other federal, state, or local regulatory agencies, with preference to work completed in the identified energy or technology industries in North America.
  • Strong oral communication, technical writing skills, attention to detail required.
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Excel, Teams, and Word including ability to create tables, basic document formatting, and management of large data transfer needs.
  • Ability to travel is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical knowledge of the NEPA process as well as other statutes such as the National Historic Preservation Act, the Endangered Species Act, and similar is preferred.
  • Customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data screening and entry into project record; retrieve documents as needed.
  • Assist project team with preliminary determinations of documents for responses to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and litigation responses.
  • Attend and accurately document project meetings, project decisions, and action items.
  • Draft, review, and/or modify project documents including correspondence, reports, memos, and emails.
  • Assist project team in distributing project information to the public including written communications as well as public meetings.
  • Assist project team with full cycle of logistics of public, tribal, and agency meetings.
  • Conduct and compile research on project, policies, and stakeholder positions.
  • Create and assist with maintenance of project and team contact lists.
  • Prepare for and assist with project-related mailings.
