About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Project Ecologist/Planner to join our Energy Transition team to support and grow our expanding business in the Pacific Northwest region (primarily Washington and Oregon) across a range of sectors, including renewable energies, linear utilities, oil and gas, and rail. The successful candidate will provide technical and task management support for a variety of environmental permitting and planning projects and provide project management support for successful project delivery. This position requires experience with the Clean Water Act (CWA), National Environmental Policy (NEPA), and state agencies in both Washington and Oregon. The position will require a candidate to work collaboratively with a diverse team and have the capacity to balance varying priorities. Arcadis offers a flexible working environment and follows a hybrid work structure. A successful candidate can expect to work remotely and from the office, as needed, based on demands of project and client teams. Periodic travel may be required (15-25%) to support regional projects and teams where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or similar environmental discipline
  • 6+ years of relevant experience managing environmental permitting projects in western US, ideally within the environmental consulting industry
  • Experienced task manager who is schedule-driven, with experience estimating and managing costs and delivery of environmental planning projects
  • Significant experience with the development of permit applications and permitting strategy with state-specific experience with the Pacific Northwest.
  • Experience consulting/working with the U.S Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is required.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and working in collaboration resource specialists in developing environmental documents for environmental projects

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with field related project components including but not limited to wetland delineations, habitat reviews, construction oversight, stormwater compliance, and other similar tasks.
  • NEPA experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a team of biologists, cultural resource specialists, planners, engineers, and other technical specialists to successfully execute environmental permitting projects.
  • Support and implement permitting strategies, including leading the preparation of permit applications.
  • Coordinate with both regulatory agencies and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Participate in all phases of client projects, including assistance with project siting, planning and permitting, supporting successful project construction, and finalizing permit closeout.
  • Support the growth of new and existing client relationships in conjunction with business development leaders and account leaders.
  • Lead pursuits and proposal opportunities, including scope and cost development.
