About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Project Ecologist/Planner to join their Energy Transition team to support and grow their business in the Pacific Northwest region (primarily Washington and Oregon). This role will focus on renewable energies, linear utilities, oil and gas, and rail sectors. The successful candidate will provide technical and task management support for environmental permitting and planning projects, as well as project management support for successful project delivery. Experience with the Clean Water Act (CWA), National Environmental Policy (NEPA), and state agencies in Washington and Oregon is required. The position requires collaboration with a diverse team and the ability to balance priorities. Arcadis offers a flexible, hybrid work environment, with a mix of remote and office work. Periodic travel (15-25%) may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or similar environmental discipline.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience managing environmental permitting projects in the western US, ideally within the environmental consulting industry.
  • Experienced task manager who is schedule-driven, with experience estimating and managing costs and delivery of environmental planning projects.
  • Significant experience with the development of permit applications and permitting strategy with state-specific experience with the Pacific Northwest.
  • Experience consulting/working with the U.S Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is required.
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team and working in collaboration with resource specialists in developing environmental documents for environmental projects.

Nice To Haves

  • NEPA experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with field related project components including but not limited to wetland delineations, habitat reviews, construction oversight, stormwater compliance, and other similar tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a team of biologists, cultural resource specialists, planners, engineers, and other technical specialists to execute environmental permitting projects.
  • Support and implement permitting strategies, including leading the preparation of permit applications.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Participate in all phases of client projects, including project siting, planning and permitting, supporting construction, and finalizing permit closeout.
  • Demonstrate experience with relevant state and federal laws and regulations, including the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act.
  • Support the growth of new and existing client relationships in conjunction with business development leaders and account leaders.
  • Lead pursuits and proposal opportunities, including scope and cost development.
