About The Position

Virginia State University is seeking an experienced Project Manager for the Project Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) in our Technology Services division. This position will manage, plan and conduct projects to support effective and efficient operations and provide leadership in performing analysis and technology solutions for the University. Ensure compliance with COV/VITA standards and best practices for project oversight and management. Other duties will include but are not limited to leading teams to deliver the project(s) that span across one or more business units, ensuring adherence to all policies and processes, both internal and external, managing project timelines and budgets, and negotiating vendor contracts, providing leadership in the process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery, and drafting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessary.

Requirements

  • Project Management leadership experience of cross-functional matrixed teams (5 Years)
  • Current Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute (PMI) (5 Years)
  • Direct hands-on technical project management experience (5+ years)
  • VITA PM Certification or the ability to obtain the VITA PM Certification within 3 months of hire (3 Months)
  • Project management experience working on a Virginia state level technology project (3 Years)

  • Oracle/SQL Server
  • Cloud experience
