About The Position

Atkinson is seeking a Project Manager to serve as the principal company representative at the project site, overseeing the entirety of a project. This role involves creating a project plan, guiding communication among stakeholders, managing risk, and monitoring progress against schedule and budget. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for completing the job and a collaborative spirit to support project goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of engineering and general contracting experience on $30M to $250M+ complex, self-perform, heavy-civil construction projects.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline; or similar field or equivalent work experience.
  • High degree of initiative, independence, personal responsibility, and integrity.
  • Willingness to speak up, listen up, ask open-ended questions, and learn from others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Champion and influence Atkinson's Safety Culture, ensuring team understanding and accountability for safety responsibilities.
  • Proactively pre-plan to address risks and make on-the-spot adjustments/corrections to ensure safety, regardless of time or cost impacts.
  • Take responsibility for client relations and focus on client needs.
  • Track and report revenue, ensuring accurate estimated costs to complete and future forecasting.
  • Plan early to avoid safety risks, address production and quality concerns, and allow time for stakeholder input and buy-in.
  • Make thoughtful, timely decisions to keep the project moving forward.
  • Employ a strategic vs. tactical approach to problem-solving, focusing on the big picture.
  • Contribute to winning new work through estimating, proposal, and presentation efforts.
  • Ensure familiarity with state and local compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate clearly, follow up, provide support, and hold the team accountable for deadlines.
  • Practice "win-win" negotiation.
  • Understand insurance products and coverages for Atkinson, subcontractors, and vendors, and verify their insurance status.
  • Keep stakeholders informed.
