About The Position

This is a Limited-Term (up to 2 years) position. As an academic medical center with a rich history of providing life-saving treatment in Southern Nevada, UMC serves as the anchor hospital of the Las Vegas Medical District, offering Nevada’s highest level of care to promote successful medical outcomes for patients. UMC is home to a Level I Trauma Center, Verified Burn Center, and Transplant Center. Position Summary: Responsible for the successful management of technology projects that are comprised of cross-functional teams of technical and business professionals, including 3rd-party vendors and contractors. The IT Project Manager will manage projects from concept to completion and drive project performance to deliver on time and on budget while managing scope, risks, and issues. This includes ensuring resource availability and allocation; developing a detailed project plan to monitor and track project progress; managing changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques; measuring project performance using appropriate tools and techniques; communicating and documenting to the project team, stakeholders, sponsors, steering committees, and all levels of management project status, issues, and successes.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Finance, or a closely related field.
  • Practical hands-on experience managing and delivering IT projects on-time and on-budget using structured methodology and standard project management tools and techniques.
  • Project Management Professional Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading large complex construction/move projects within an acute care hospital (or similar setting)
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
