About The Position

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning and overseeing electrical and instrumentation projects; modifications to facilities, pipelines, and plants; and turn-arounds by ensuring they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. The PM plans and designates project resources, prepares budgets, monitors progress, and keep stakeholders informed through the life of the project.

Requirements

  • Certified journeyman electrician and/or instrumentation.
  • 5+ years in the oil and gas industry, client-side experience is preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to delegate, motivate, and inspire team members.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  • Strong math, analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, or other related software.
  • Ability to perform site visits for job scopes as required.
  • Experience researching and obtaining quotes for parts, materials, and labour costs.
  • Ability to develop a rapport and a strong working relationship with the client is critical.
  • Must be able to plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.
  • Knowledge of electrical and other parts, materials, and labour (instrumentation knowledge an asset)
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  • Ability to manage confidential information ethically with integrity and professionalism.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
  • Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech’s standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years).
  • This position is a site based role with the expectation of being on a client site on a rotational basis.

  • PMP designation and/or association membership is an asset.
  • Proficient with IFS is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Reviews proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate (may review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials).
  • Prepares estimates of probable costs of materials, labor, and equipment for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications.
  • Advises on major changes in scope of work during bid process and post award.
  • Prepares contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Plans and prepares construction schedules and milestones and monitor progress against established schedules.
  • Develops and implements quality control programs.
  • Provides project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Prepares cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project and monitor actual cost to estimated cost.
  • Liaises, consults, and communicates with owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepares economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and resolve issues.
  • Monitors client addendums and advises the estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
  • Utilizes industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
  • Conducts debriefing with estimating, engineering, and production teams to discuss positive and negative aspects of the project at the completion of the project.
  • Follows up and reports on feedback regarding declined proposals.
  • Maintains files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Leads project team and is responsible for success in terms of cost, quality, schedule, and Environment Health and Safety (EHS).
  • Participates/complies with company safety programs & company policies.
  • Other duties as required.
