About The Position

As a Project Manager at Choate Construction, you are the central leader responsible for guiding a project from contract execution through successful completion, knowing that your work directly impacts our clients, project teams, and communities. This role is well‑suited for professionals with 6–10 years of commercial construction experience, including at least three years in an Assistant Project Manager or similar role, who are ready to take the next step in managing greater project complexity. You will plan, organize, and administer the owner contract and all subcontract agreements, proactively managing costs, schedule, changes, and overall financial performance while communicating clearly with both internal partners and clients. You will collaborate closely with the field Superintendent to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards, while overseeing the timely procurement, approval, and delivery of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors to the jobsite. Requirements

  • 6–10 years of commercial construction experience.
  • At least three years in an Assistant Project Manager or similar role.
  • Ability to take the next step in managing greater project complexity.
  • Pride in building trusted relationships with clients, designers, and partners.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Belief that safety is personal and ability to actively partner with Superintendents and safety leaders.
  • Comfort managing contracts and risk, understanding key contract terms, executing subcontracts thoughtfully, and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Enjoyment of being involved early—contributing during preconstruction, helping shape logistics and execution plans, and building strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Ability to bring structure and urgency to project execution.
  • Discipline and detail in managing project finances.

Responsibilities

  • Managing contracts and risk, understanding key contract terms, executing subcontracts thoughtfully, and escalating issues appropriately.
  • Contributing during preconstruction, helping shape logistics and execution plans, and building strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Planning schedules, procuring materials and trades, addressing issues early, and supporting the field team to deliver quality work on time.
  • Managing project finances with discipline and detail, converting estimates into executable budgets, tracking costs and forecasts, and ensuring accurate, timely reporting.
