About The Position

The NYC Department of Design and Construction, Division of Public Buildings, seeks Project Managers. The Project Managers will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating construction. The selected candidates will assist with a portfolio of capital design or construction projects throughout the five boroughs. The Project Manager will be assigned projects at various stages of design and construction, and will be the key contact throughout the scoping, design, and construction procurement phase. The Project Managers will utilize the agency’s technical resources to ensure that their projects meet DDC’s Commitment Plan objectives and follow up on completion schedules. The Project Managers will also apprise Sr. Project Managers of scheduling, construction, and design issues; keep costs within budget; liaise between contractors, DDC and sponsor agencies; maintain comprehensive project history files; coordinate project schedules; review projects; address construction and design issues; prepare change orders, project correspondence, and reports. Please note: All candidates must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.). In compliance with Public Law 99-603, candidates are required to present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S. DDC is unable to support or sponsor any visa application or visa extension, including but not limited to OPT/STEM visas, H-1B visas, F-1 practical training, permanent residence sponsorship, or any proposed change of visa type. DDC does not offer a training program as required by U.S. immigration law and is not hiring temporary employees. Candidates must have proper work authorization when an employment offer is made. Additionally, educational credentials must be from a U.S. Department of Education-recognized accredited institution. Credentials from foreign institutions require independent equivalency verification from an approved evaluation service. Requirements

  • Permanent in the Assistant Architect title or reachable on the open-competitive list (exam #5011).
  • Currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.).
  • A Bachelor or a Master of Architecture degree that is the first professional degree in architecture from an accredited college; or
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in architecture that is the first four years of a five-year first professional degree program in architecture from an accredited college and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in architectural work; or
  • A valid New York State Registration as an Architect.

Nice To Haves

  • A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York may be required for certain assignments. If required, this license must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.
