About The Position

Michels Power, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager for Transmission & Distribution projects in Minnesota. This role involves leading the execution of complex utility infrastructure projects from pursuit through closeout. Responsibilities include managing project scope, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a results-driven leader experienced in field-based environments and high-impact infrastructure work. Michels Power is a leading contractor in power delivery, focusing on high-voltage transmission, substation construction, and distribution system modernization.

Requirements

  • 1–7+ years of experience in construction project management within transmission, distribution, utility, or electrical infrastructure projects (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Proven experience managing project scope, cost, schedule, and field execution
  • Strong knowledge of T&D construction methods, sequencing, and project delivery
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with project management / scheduling software (Primavera P6, HCSS, MS Project, or similar)
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Willingness to travel and support long-term, onsite project assignments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with utility clients, co-ops, or EPC transmission projects
  • Background in overhead transmission (HOLT), underground distribution, or substation integration
  • Experience managing multi-discipline power delivery projects
  • Familiarity with ERCOT, MISO, or other regional transmission environments

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects through estimating, bidding, execution, and closeout phases
  • Manage transmission, distribution, and substation construction activities
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Oversee subcontractors, suppliers, field leadership, and internal project teams
  • Develop and maintain strong client and utility relationships
  • Track and manage project costs, forecasts, schedules, and performance metrics
  • Support project planning for transmission line construction (structures, conductor, ROW), distribution system upgrades (OH/UG), and substation scopes as applicable
  • Promote and model Michels’ safety-first culture across all operations
  • Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and operational feedback
