Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe and is an agency of the Government of Ontario. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. The Third-Party Coordination Team is hiring a Project Manager, Third-Party Coordination (Stakeholder Management) representing the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension Project (ECWE). This position will report to the Manager, Third-Party Coordination, working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team on strategy, policy, contentious, sensitive or emerging issues, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management to ensure successful outcomes.

Requirements

  • Completion of a degree in Planning, Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, Engineering or related field – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrated years of experience, ideally in the public sector, developing communications materials, managing special projects, complex and sensitive issues/tasks, timely flow of information along with stakeholder interaction
  • Strong influencing/negotiating as well as political acumen capabilities to deal with a variety of stakeholders, agencies and staff to ensure successful outcomes and achieve goals
  • Proven political acuity skills to recognize and respond to high-level and sensitive issues; demonstrated ability to recognize and support issues which may impact project partners and stakeholders
  • Excellent Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation communication skills, including briefings to Senior Management Team
  • Working knowledge of Project Management lifecycle and principles.

  • Project Management Professional designation (PMP) is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain an understanding of diverse stakeholder agendas and create positive working relationships to establish mutually beneficial opportunities and discuss technical and policy-related issues while fostering collaboration
  • Communicate regularly with Leadership Team, Project Delivery Team, internal project partners and external stakeholders to provide strategic guidance and assist in issue resolution to achieve successful outcomes
  • Prepare, research, develop and disseminate information (e.g. correspondence, meeting notes, action items, briefing materials) and communicate policies related to programmatic and organizational initiatives
  • Interpret stakeholder feedback and work with the project team to develop and translate technical information into strategic positions, inclusive of broader project goals and stakeholder relations
  • Handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities independently, with the ability to identify risks, emerging issues and prioritize urgent requests; mediate and resolve conflicts associated with issues and project interfaces
  • Coordinate a wide range of programs, working files, project communications and executive support tasks including recurring updates to executives
  • Review and analyze communications to ensure consistency, alignment and appropriate flow of information
  • Respond to inquiries, provide advice, and make decisions in accordance with established protocols, policies and procedures
  • Develops, maintains, and continually improves communication standards and tools, while incorporating best practices
  • Guide and influence others in the performance of their day-to-day activities, without direct supervisory responsibility
  • Maintain and administer the team's document control system, including the organization, tracking, filing, version control, retention, and retrieval of all incoming and outgoing project documents, ensuring accuracy, consistency, accessibility, and compliance with internal governance requirements.
