About The Position

The TDIP Assistant Project Manager (MEPF) reports to the assigned Senior Project Manager and is responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and operational interfaces of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection (MEPF) and specialty systems design and construction activities within an assigned Terminal Development and Improvement Program (TDIP) project. TDIP is a major capital program focused on delivering projects that modernize LAX passenger terminals to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, safety, and system reliability across the airport. The TDIP Assistant Project Manager (MEPF) manages the technical scope, cost, schedule, and performance of MEPF systems and building infrastructure throughout design and construction. This role ensures the development and implementation of design coordination, installation, and turnover plans, while proactively managing risks associated with MEPF system installation, startup, and operational impacts to existing facilities.

Requirements

  • Project manager and technical leader with strong MEPF experience in active operational environments
  • Proven ability to manage complex building systems within budget and schedule constraints
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills for technical coordination across MEPF and specialty systems
  • In-depth knowledge of MEPF design standards, codes, commissioning, and system performance
  • Experience across the full MEPF lifecycle (concept through turnover)
  • Experience with system integration (BAS, power, HVAC, life safety, controls)
  • Ability to develop performance metrics and executive reporting indicators
  • Experience coordinating with operations and maintenance teams
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams (designers, contractors, operators, etc.)
  • 10+ years managing MEP systems design and construction
  • Experience with large-scale infrastructure (airport experience preferred)
  • Demonstrated coordination of MEPF and controls systems
  • Experience supporting commissioning and system turnover
  • Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS)
  • Electrical power monitoring systems
  • HVAC and control interfaces
  • Fire alarm and life safety systems
  • Revit / BIM coordination tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Aviation, Business, Engineering, Construction Management, Planning or other related technical field (required)
  • Consultant MUST have a company-provided laptop computer. This is required for company business and to VPN into LAWA system when away from the from the office as necessary
  • Cell phone provided by consultant is required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree (preferred)
  • Optional certifications may include AAAE, LEED, PE, PMP, AICP, etc. or any other relevant professional licensure and/or certifications

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary technical liaison for MEPF systems
  • Manage MEPF design scope and ensure alignment with operational requirements
  • Lead procurement and technical evaluation of consultants, contractors, and vendors
  • Oversee installation, testing, startup, and commissioning activities
  • Develop and manage budgets, schedules, and resource plans
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to minimize operational disruptions
  • Identify and resolve technical, constructability, and integration challenges
  • Conduct field investigations and infrastructure assessments
  • Maintain documentation for design criteria, submittments, testing, and commissioning records
  • Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and technical change proposals
