About The Position
Under the general direction of the director or designee, the Project Manager II leads medium projects or subcomponents of larger, more complex projects. The Project Manager II is responsible for independent action on multiple projects. Tasks vary according to the priorities of the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in project management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with staff, clients, and vendor staff
- Ability to lead and direct a matrix project team, as well as the ability to lead and direct effective meetings and work sessions
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to travel to off-site locations
Responsibilities
- Lead project teams, develop new project plans, schedules and budgets for approval
- Execute project requirements and ensure that project execution meets expectations
- Perform research and data analysis in support of the initial feasibility and formalization of a project and presents findings to senior leadership
- Develop and present final project reports, findings and deliverables
- Assess and evaluate project risks, mitigate and implement strategies to alleviate them
- Schedule and coordinate team meetings. Participate in team recruitment and work allocation
- Prepare project statements in collaboration with project team members on data collection, project work plans, meetings, decisions, work change orders, project deliverables, progress reports, schedules, cost tracking reports, and other pertinent reports
- Facilitate communication of the project’s status, budget, costs, issues, and related information to the project’s team leaders, project sponsor, steering committee, affected business unit(s), and team members as appropriate
- Coordinate with the project’s sponsor in refining the project scope and objectives, including any constraints
- Provide direction, support and daily supervision to project support staff
- Draft and Develop contracts related to the project success
- Adhere to University, State and funding agency policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as required.
