About The Position

Knife River Idaho is seeking a motivated Concrete Structures Project Manager/Estimator who is eager to grow their skills in a division that has expanded from 3 employees to over 60 in the last 15 years. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in some areas of concrete or heavy civil work who wants to learn more and advance in a team-oriented, people-first environment. Our structures division delivers a wide variety of general and complex concrete work, including: Concrete flatwork and slabs, Cast-in-place boxes, vaults, and culverts, Concrete paving using Bidwells, roller screeds, and other methods, Structural and retaining walls, Water/wastewater tanks and containment structures, Heavy-civil structural systems, Specialty contractor-designed solutions, including slide-in-place bridges. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with public and private sector projects
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • 5+ years of experience in a PM/Estimator role in heavy highway or concrete bridge construction
  • Proven experience working on DOT bridge projects
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Strong understanding of concrete structures, job costing, scheduling, and managing field crews
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and construction software (HCSS preferred)
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to dynamic project demands
  • Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in reviewing plans, specifications, and site conditions across a broad range of concrete structure types
  • Perform or support quantity takeoffs for concrete, rebar, formwork, and structural elements
  • Help prepare estimates and bids for projects ranging from small concrete packages to major structural installations
  • Learn to develop project sequences, formwork plans, pour strategies, and production expectations
  • Collaborate with superintendents and field crews to support scheduling, material procurement, and job coordination
  • Track job progress, costs, and quantities with guidance from senior project managers
  • Work with owners, inspectors, and design teams to resolve field issues
  • Support safe and efficient execution of all concrete operations
