About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Project Engineering Intern – Summer 2027 to join our Denver, CO office. This role involves supporting Aviation project teams in the delivery of infrastructure or facilities programs. The intern will assist in the development or review of project plans, estimates, schedules, and procedures, and coordinate operations to ensure consistency with policies and procedures. Under supervision, the intern will observe contractor work, perform quality assurance (QA) activities, and conduct non-manual field work applying acquired knowledge to observe moderately complex construction contracts. Responsibilities include coordinating with field leads/project managers, recording and documenting construction activities (daily diaries, payment reports), and participating in internal quality control checks to maintain quality standards.

Requirements

  • Must have completed 60 hours towards a civil engineering, architectural engineering, architecture or construction management degree from an ABET accredited program by the start of the internship (Summer 2027).
  • Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders, stoop, squat and crawl to inspect work; ability to observe construction activities and distinguish colors; and ability to perceive back-up alarms and other warnings.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions, subject to insects, flooded terrain, equipment/traffic, and other hazards.

Nice To Haves

  • No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Support Aviation project teams in the delivery of infrastructure or facilities programs
  • Support project team in the development or review of project plans, estimates, schedules, and procedures
  • Coordinate operations within organizational unit to ensure consistency with policies and procedures.
  • Under supervision, observe the work of contractors involved in the construction of projects and performs quality assurance (QA) activities.
  • Perform non-manual field work that involves applying acquired knowledge and experience to observe moderately complex construction contracts and related activities.
  • Coordinate with field lead / internal project manager and/or owner on assigned tasks.
  • Record and document construction activities in accordance with contract requirements, such as daily diaries, daily payment reports during progress of work, and others as assigned.
  • Participate in internal quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
