About The Position

Whiting-Turner is seeking entry-level engineers to help manage all aspects of construction projects. The position reports to a project manager and/or a superintendent and involves coordinating project stakeholders and trades, managing project budgets and schedules, addressing design and field issues, and documenting project activities. Qualified candidates will receive training in construction processes, safety and building codes, technical documentation, and project scheduling.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline, engineering technology, construction management, or construction technology.
Knowledge of engineering principles.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and site subcontractors, and/or direct the work of trades assigned to a construction site.
Manage estimating and bidding processes and track costs to manage project budgets.
Resolve and clarify design issues.
Identify and resolve field issues and change orders.
Write contracts and purchase orders using company boilerplate language to document ordered work, schedules, projected costs, change orders, and technical specifications.
Participate in meetings to coordinate work and manage labor concerns.
Ensure work is completed in accordance with quality standards and contract specifications.
Implement project schedules, including tasks associated with project completion.
Document technical, financial, and personnel aspects of each project.
Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, and change orders.
Review each trade’s work progress with respect to project phases.
Provide field support to construction superintendents to help ensure contract compliance, quality control, and site maintenance.
Track project phase completion against milestones.
Set expectations for managing a safe work site.
Document each phase of the project.
