About The Position

United Plastic Fabricating manufactures plastic water tanks for the fire industry and products for industrial and transportation markets. The Entry Level Engineer may work in or rotate through Sales Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Design Engineering for training. This is a 100% in-person role. The position supports sales quoting and customer inquiries, evaluates orders for manufacturability and warranty concerns, and reviews orders for completeness, accuracy, and previously reported issues. It provides engineering and quality assurance to help ensure products meet customer requirements and comply with applicable quality management systems and standards. The role also supports design and manufacturability assessments, manufacturing efficiency improvements, process and equipment development, product and process quality, and continuous improvement through data gathering and historical trending.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
CAD and drafting skills.
Excellent mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparing preliminary outlines, layouts, and sketches for sales quotes.
Assist customers with questions about design feasibility and volume calculations.
Evaluate new orders for manufacturability and warranty concerns.
Receive, examine, and enter sales orders to verify data completeness, accuracy, and manufacturability.
Review and resolve previously reported issues before releasing orders.
Provide engineering and assurance to ensure products meet customer requirements and expectations.
Work cross-functionally to ensure new, improved, and current products and processes comply with applicable quality management systems and standards.
Capture and communicate information about potential design and manufacturability concerns or opportunities.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
Develop fixtures and automate or semi-automate processes.
Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements and researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods, equipment, and material-handling conveyance.
Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, assessing process capabilities, establishing standards, and confirming manufacturing processes.
Gather data and conduct historical trending for continuous improvement.
