About The Position

Michels Infrastructure Solutions (MIS) is seeking a Project Engineer to join their team, supporting the successful execution of hyperscale data center and mission-critical construction projects. This role involves working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to assist with project planning, scheduling, cost tracking, procurement, quality control, documentation management, and field coordination. The Project Engineer will support all phases of project delivery, from preconstruction and estimating through construction, commissioning, and project closeout. Success requires strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced construction environment and support multiple stakeholders. This position requires approximately 80% travel and the ability to support long-term onsite assignments at active project locations throughout the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • 0-4 years of construction, engineering, project management, infrastructure, or related industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong understanding of construction project management principles and processes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and related project management tools
  • Ability to track project costs, schedules, procurement activities, labor productivity, and project documentation
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 80% of the time, including extended-duration assignments and long-term onsite project support
  • Ability to work effectively in both office and active construction site environments
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with estimating, quantity take-offs, subcontractor coordination, project controls, and cost tracking is preferred
  • Experience supporting data center, mission-critical, industrial, heavy civil, utility, energy, or EPC construction projects is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the planning, organization, and execution of hyperscale data center and mission-critical construction projects.
  • Support project teams in managing project scope, schedule, budget, and performance objectives.
  • Understand project contracts, scope requirements, terms, and customer expectations.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate action items between project stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation, project logs, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with agency correspondence, compliance reporting, and project administration.
  • Support onsite project operations and administrative activities.
  • Collaborate with field leadership, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers to support successful project outcomes.
  • Track project costs, labor productivity, material usage, and production quantities.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, customer billing, and financial reporting activities.
  • Develop and maintain project reports for management review.
  • Support project accounting, documentation control, and financial tracking efforts.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce project costs.
  • Assist with contract compliance and change management processes.
  • Maintain project schedules and monitor progress against key milestones.
  • Coordinate material procurement activities and track delivery schedules.
  • Manage material submittments and related documentation.
  • Support vendor and supplier communications.
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, and material tracking activities as needed.
  • Help ensure materials, equipment, and services are available to support project schedules.
  • Assist with subcontractor management and coordination under Project Manager supervision.
  • Support field operations by facilitating communication between project stakeholders.
  • Help ensure subcontractor activities align with project requirements, schedules, and quality expectations.
  • Participate in site visits and field coordination efforts to support project execution.
  • Support day-to-day construction activities and issue resolution efforts.
  • Assist with quantity take-offs and estimating activities.
  • Support proposal preparation and bid development efforts.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Assist with project planning, logistics planning, and execution strategy development.
  • Support preconstruction activities that contribute to project success.
  • Support QA/QC programs, inspections, testing procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Assist with project compliance, reporting, and documentation control.
  • Maintain organized project records throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for employees, customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Identify workplace hazards and support corrective actions when necessary.
