About The Position

Southern California-based commercial construction & development company Howard CDM is seeking a reliable and team-oriented Project Engineer to join our growing firm. As a Project Engineer at Howard CDM, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects in a variety of market sectors. The Project Engineer will be responsible for evaluation of submittals and RFI’s to support construction activities and resolution of design and field issues. The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager with interacting with subcontractors, field supervisors, owner representatives and architects to ensure quality and timely completion of the project.

Requirements

  • A combination of a bachelor’s degree (preferably in Construction Management, Building Construction, or related field) and 3+ years’ experience as a Project Engineer at a GC or 5+ years of experience as a Project Engineer at a GC.
  • Strong technical and administrative skills along with the ability to be organized
  • Multi-tasking skills and the ability to coordinate work on several facets of a project
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, Sage300CRE, and other project-related software
  • Valid California Driver’s License and Driver’s Record suitable to company insurance policy
  • Excellent time management & organization skills

Responsibilities

  • Work in conjunction with the coordination teams, management teams and field staff
  • General Contract and Subcontract administration
  • Construction scheduling
  • Material and equipment procurement and expediting
  • Shop drawing and submittal review and coordination
  • Project cost review, reporting, updating and accounting
  • Creation of RFI documents as needed
  • Create and maintain project meeting minutes and log
  • Review and negotiate change proposal pricing
  • Change order documentation and associated cost reporting and maintenance
  • Research and suggest options on construction means, methods and equipment
  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in the development and management of projects through additional tasks as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
