About The Position

This role participates in the planning, development, scheduling, and performance of engineering assignments related to new and existing pipeline safety regulations in CT, MA, and at the federal level. The Project Engineer will support operations and maintenance procedures, apply engineering concepts to develop data processing methodologies, and troubleshoot/analyze system disturbances with stakeholders. They will also support activities associated with the roll-out of new and revised regulations in MA and CT, including analysis of new regulations' impacts and associated implementation planning. Additionally, the role aids in the completion of general day-to-day tasks of the Policy & Compliance team. This position requires the application of engineering practices as directed by the Manager, Policy & Compliance or their designee.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of gas distribution construction and maintenance work practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of applicable governmental codes and regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with MS Office.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology or related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related engineering experience.
  • Valid Driver's License required.

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of Operator Qualification Programs and associated training considered a plus.
  • Gas experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain company standards, as directed to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and codes.
  • Coordinates resources required to complete processes or projects.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and communicate changes to key stakeholders, ensuring proactive response to evolving requirements.
  • Monitor and track industry best practices and emerging trends in regulatory compliance to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • As directed, will lead implementation of new compliance initiatives resulting from new gas regulations.
  • Provide necessary details to training organizations to ensure understanding and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to interpret and apply regulatory requirements accurately.
  • Delivers superior service to our customers, both internal and external, in a reliable, attentive, courteous, quality, proactive and timely manner.
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintains accurate documentation.
