About The Position

Consumers Energy is Michigan’s largest energy provider, serving 6.8 million residents across 68 Lower Peninsula counties. This role is responsible for the planning and execution of new and existing project requests, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and project details. The Project Coordinator will manage tasks, utilize applicable project systems, and prioritize projects based on customer needs. The role involves gathering customer work scopes and guiding projects from initiation through design, scheduling, and field construction phases, driven by customer timelines. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship and cannot hire individuals with CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Technical, scientific or business related field with 2 years of experience supporting project work (OR) High School diploma with 4 years of experience supporting project work
  • Understanding of pertinent rules, laws, and regulations pertaining to the department function
  • Knowledge and understanding of Consumers Energy Electric Tariffs
  • Knowledge of SAP Notifications and Billing
  • Knowledge of typical contract and agreement terms and language
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and non-verbally) with stakeholders both internal and external
  • Ability to interpret and understand blueprints, drawings, property descriptions and plans
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Time management and ability to prioritize stakeholder requests
  • Knowledge of LEAN operating principles

Responsibilities

  • Represent the department in cross-functional meetings
  • Assist with maintaining department standard work
  • Participate in department problem solving and waste elimination work
  • Prioritize workload to successfully complete projects and meet customer commitments
  • Serve as the primary contact with customers to coordinate assigned CMS Energy Utility projects
  • Determine project scope and evaluate design requirements and system impacts
  • Monitor and respond to inquiries from various business partners
  • Coordinate project work, including estimates of customer and system loads, generate tasks for other departments, provide cost estimates, identify required permits, and scheduling work orders
  • May be responsible for design, based on geographic location, workload and available design resources
  • Maintain a storm role and assist with emergent operations/storm restoration as needed
  • Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
