Requirements

  • Knowledge of Principles and practices of project coordination and project management
  • Knowledge of Public transportation systems and transit operations, including bus, paratransit, ferry, and rail services
  • Knowledge of Public-sector project delivery processes
  • Knowledge of Federal, state, and local regulations applicable to public transit, including FTA grant requirements
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to interpret schedules, contracts, technical documents, and funding requirements
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in written and verbal formats

  • Proficiency in using computer systems and the listed software applications associated with performance of assigned work is required.

  • Proficiency in using software programs such as Primavera or Microsoft Project for project scheduling and schedule analysis, and experience using software for cost estimating and cost analysis.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Transportation Planning, Engineering, Project Management, Public Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • A Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, construction management, public administration or closely related field with at least five (5) years’ work experience coordinating capital projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively interact and maintain relationships with people of diverse cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Advanced knowledge of contract administration techniques and principles.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.

  • Experience supporting transportation or transit-related projects is preferred.
  • Experience working with public agencies, regional authorities or federally funded projects is desirable.
  • Experience with online project collaboration software a plus.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods a plus
  • Experience in managing a range of project types up to $100M

Responsibilities

  • Provide project coordination support for HRT transit projects, including capital improvements, facilities, and system enhancements.
  • Assist Project Managers with project schedules, task tracking, budget, purchase orders and milestone reporting
  • Coordinate meetings with internal departments, local jurisdictions, consultants, contractors, and regional partners
  • Prepare agendas, presentations, reports, correspondence and meeting minutes as needed to support the various projects
  • Maintain accurate and organized project files in compliance with HRT Records Management Policies and Procedures
  • Support procurement activities, including RFPs, RFQs, IFBs, contract administration and contractor coordination
  • Assist with monitoring project risks, issues, and change requests
  • Support compliance with FTA, DRPT and local requirements, including ADA, Title VI, NEPA and safety related documentation
  • Assist with public outreach, stakeholder coordination, and interagency coordination as required
  • Manage records created and received in compliance with the Hampton Roads Transit Records Management Policies and Procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
