About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody excellence, compassion, teamwork, and purpose to join our Academic Affairs team in the role of Project Coordinator. The Academic Affairs Project Coordinator will assist the Indiana University School of Medicine-Muncie Assistant Dean for Graduate Medical Education/Principal Academic Officer. This individual will be responsible for managing the development and implementation of graduate medical education activities at IU School of Medicine-Muncie. The Coordinator will select affiliated sites, collect and analyze data regarding the effectiveness of our educational programs, and implement strategies for improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent years of experience required
  • Clinical license and/or other certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
  • 0-3 years of experience is required
  • Experience exhibiting professional judgment and diplomacy in handling unexpected problems and frequent interruptions is required
  • Requires basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Highly analytical - critical thinking skills
  • Works well with physicians and other hospital leaders
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member

  • Experience with matrix organization and complex work environment a plus
  • Experience with developing and implementing program ideas into successful academic programs
  • Knowledge of healthcare and ability to work with interprofessional teams
  • Ability to compile and analyze educational data to improve educational outcomes preferred
  • Experience with ACCME accredited activities preferred
  • Experience in writing grant requests a plus
  • Familiarity with the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements for Institutional, Common, and specialty program requirements and the accreditation process preferred
  • Familiarity with learning management system preferred
  • Familiarity with project management preferred
  • Experience working in an academic environment or university preferred
  • Ability to interpret statistical data as it pertains to scholarly projects
  • Strong medical writing skills preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Indiana University School of Medicine-Muncie residency programs in developing and revising curricula and implementing educational programs in accordance with Program Requirements.
  • Assists in implementing faculty development programs for residency faculty.
  • Works with Quality and Safety Department to link medical education initiatives to hospital and system quality/safety initiatives.
  • Coordinates, plans and provides educational programs including simulation, lecture, and workshops which contribute to the delivery of quality health care by educating medical trainees and faculty and all members of interdisciplinary teams who interact with trainees regarding current standard processes and evolving best practices.
  • Develops and designs tools and guidelines that enhance the value of care delivery to IU Health Ball patients.
  • Collaborates with IU School of Medicine Graduate Medical Education program leadership in the design and coordination of orientation programs for new and existing trainees.
  • Tracks progress of residents and revises training to meet needs of the target population or assists faculty with development of remediation training plans for trainees as appropriate.
  • Assists residents on completing quality improvement (QI) projects with the intent of scholarly dissemination.
  • Works with Research Department as needed to assist residents and faculty in scholarly projects.
  • Assists the Indiana University School of Medicine-Muncie campus in arranging preceptors for required clerkships and assisting in elective development; assists in arranging preceptors for Phase 1 courses (e.g., UDOS); initiates and maintains faculty appointments for the IU School of Medicine-Muncie faculty.
