About The Position

We are seeking a Project Coordinator to support our Operations team by providing support to the Project Manager in the planning, development and coordination of large heavy construction and earthworks projects in the Fargo, ND area with the possibility of future project work in Fort McMurray, AB area. In addition the Project Coordinator will be involved with the interpretation of plans and specifications for projects, contract administration and project controls requirements as well as construction activities associated with the project requirements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related technical field
  • 0–5+ years’ experience in heavy civil, mining, or earthworks construction preferred
  • Ability to work in the United States
  • Ability to obtain TN Visa (with company assistance)
  • Strong Excel and computer skills
  • Strong organizational, communication and technical writing skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, field-based environments
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to provide a recent Driver’s Abstract
  • Valid CSO
  • Be subject to Random Testing at: Suncor, Suncor Fort Hills and Kearl sites
  • Undergo and successfully pass the following pre-employment testing: Breath Alcohol Test, Urine Drug Test, Fitness-to-Work Health Assessment, Audiometric Testing, Vision Screening

Responsibilities

  • Support daily work planning and execution
  • Monitor field productivity, quantities, and equipment utilization
  • Assist with work sequencing, logistics planning, and resource coordination
  • Participate in field tours, hazard assessments, and pre-job planning
  • Assist with QA/QC activities including field verification, Inspection and test plans, and design compliance
  • Track quantities, labour and equipment time, production rates, and project progress
  • Support cost tracking, budget control, and commitment management
  • Assist with monthly forecasting
  • Identify variances between plan vs. actual and recommend corrective actions
  • Support change management, RFI coordination, and client reporting
  • Assist with estimates, take-offs, and bid preparation
  • Support subcontractor and rental equipment coordination
  • Participate in planning and kick-off meetings with client and operations teams
  • Develop and improve reporting tools and tracking systems
  • Analyze production and cost data to identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency
  • Develop scope specific safety documentation in collaboration with the site safety team and superintendents
  • Support optimization of equipment utilization, and work sequencing and net production hours
  • Recommend practical field improvements that reduce delays, rework, or waste
