About The Position

The goal of the Hope Project is to improve mental health outcomes for children and youth at risk for or with serious emotional disturbance (SED) and to bring new hope through its comprehensive and early intervention approach for the children, youth, and their families. This position is responsible for providing case management services for project family participants (consumers). The position orients families to the Hope Project which leads the families to attend monthly individual meetings and facilitated group quarterly meetings.

Requirements

  • Ability to report to work on time.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health; and appropriate skills in working with consumers with Mental Health/Substance Use disorders.
  • Skill in working successfully with the Alaska Native/American Indian population and experience providing culturally specific programming; understanding of and sensitivity to diverse cultures and lifestyles.
  • Skill in operating/using computers and using Windows, Word, and Excel with the ability to accurately input information into reporting formats.
  • Above average communication and people skills with the ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of how to best assist possible escalated individuals during the data collection process.
  • Ability to protect confidentiality is essential; HIPAA & 42 CFR compliant.
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret/understand billing procedures.
  • Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meeting their deadlines.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, agencies, and consumers.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or a related field.
  • One (1) year of experience working with AN/AI population.
  • One (1) year of experience working with families.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in the mental health field.
  • A combination of experience, education, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may substitute for degree requirements.

  • Experience working with infants and toddlers.
  • Experience providing culturally specific services.
  • Experience applying knowledge, judgment, and critical reasoning acquired through your training and professional experiences, known as Evidence-Based Practice (EBP).
  • Master’s degree in behavioral health or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates comprehensive orientation for designated consumer family members, as needed.
  • Facilitates quarterly family gatherings.
  • Meets with designated consumer family members monthly.
  • Promotes the Health and Wellness of the family by covering physical, emotional, intellectual, social, environmental, occupational, spiritual, land-centric, and financial education.
  • Works with families to understand and address risk factors and connects consumers with resources and support services.
  • Collaborates with FNA BHS child, youth, and young adult services.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement and data-driven decision-making processes to assess program efficacy and drive quality improvement.
  • Ensures adherence to data collection requirements and enters accurate and timely data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Develop billing records.
  • Provides culturally relevant and trauma-informed service.
  • Attends mandatory position training that provides training in risk factors as designated by Project Director and/or Clinical Supervisor.
  • Attend all required staff meetings.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
