The Project Controls Intern supports the planning, execution, and monitoring of critical capital projects across Duke Energy. Working directly with project teams, the intern assists with key project management functions and takes on increasing responsibility as experience and skills develop. The role offers hands-on experience with large-scale energy infrastructure projects and the opportunity to contribute to projects that support communities and Duke Energy’s clean energy future. Potential opportunities for summer 2027 are available across Duke Energy’s footprint in North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Florida. Teams may include Transmission, which supports the design, analysis, assessment, and continuous improvement of transmission systems and substations, and Project Management & Construction (PMC), which plans and delivers large-scale infrastructure projects such as utility-scale solar generation, battery energy storage systems, and natural gas generation facilities. The internship lasts 10–12 weeks. The intern must be able to work 40 hours per week throughout the summer. Work is performed at both remote and onsite locations after onboarding, and employees should live within a reasonable commute of the designated Duke Energy facility. Travel to project locations may be required. A housing stipend is available when applicable.
