About The Position

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network. This position is with ONxpress Civils (“CJV” aka the Design & Construction team); the project segment responsible for the modernization and modification of the key area network, including countless innovations in the way the regional rail infrastructure is built.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program related to Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a similar field.
  • Strong interest in construction, infrastructure projects, and Project Controls.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, word, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills: ability to create and maintain strong relationships, strong communication skills, and attention to detail; as well as the ability to work effectively and accurately in time-sensitive situations within a team
  • Strong willingness to learn and take initiative in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to work in a collaborative project environment.
  • Applicants must be enrolled in a relevant university or college program to be eligible for the opportunity.
  • Only students eligible to complete an 8–12-month co-op term will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous exposure to scheduling tools, reporting tools, or construction projects is considered an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Gain knowledge of the Project Control process.
  • Support the Project Controls team with daily coordination, reporting, and tracking activities.
  • Support cost and progress tracking activities under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Learn and gain exposure to project scheduling, cost control, forecasting, and reporting processes within a major infrastructure project environment.
  • Assist in updating project schedules, budget, progress trackers, and project documentation.
  • Assist in reviewing and organizing project information from various teams including Construction, Engineering, and Procurement.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, dashboards, and process automation activities where applicable.
  • Help compile earned value management report for the team and management.
  • Perform other administrative and coordination tasks in support of the Project Controls team.
  • Help maintain project databases, logs, and reporting tools.
  • Other duties assigned by the Project Controls lead or any other Project Control team member
