About The Position

WSP's RPM team is one of the most established and exciting teams in Canada, consisting of environmental technicians, project coordinators, project managers, technical experts, and qualified professionals. They have been providing contaminated site program management services for over 15 years, with a consistent backlog of 9 to 12 months and growth opportunities for high-performing team members. The team specializes in health and safety, Phase I/II ESAs, risk assessment, and remediation, taking on major Canadian projects from coast to coast. The Project Controller will support the successful delivery of projects by providing oversight of project cost, schedule, forecasting, risk, and performance reporting. This role works closely with Project Managers, Project Accountants, and project teams to ensure projects remain on track, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in accounting/finance, business administration, or other related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project controls, project finance, cost control, scheduling, or project management support.
  • Experience supporting small to large projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project management/reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and schedules.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, and project performance against approved baselines.
  • Perform variance analysis and identify discrepancies between planned and actual performance.
  • Support project setup, planning, estimating, and resource forecasting activities.
  • Prepare and maintain project performance reports, dashboards, and status updates.
  • Assist with tracking of project KPIs.
  • Coordinate project review meetings and support project governance processes.
  • Monitor project risks, issues, and changes, ensuring appropriate escalation when required.
  • Review work-in-progress (WIP), accounts receivable, invoicing status, and project financial health.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Project Accountants to update forecasts and implement corrective actions.
  • Support budget re-baselining, change management processes, and project closeout activities.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational project controls procedures and financial controls.
