Louis Ptak Construction is seeking an experienced, driven Project Accountant to lead the financial management of our construction projects. This position oversees project billing, ensures financial accuracy, and collaborates with project teams to drive successful financial outcomes. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a deep understanding of construction accounting and a passion for fostering operational excellence. The role can be based in either our Novato or Monterey office.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent construction experience.
2+ years of experience in construction accounting, billing, contracts, change orders, and project financial administration.
Proficiency with Procore, accounting software such as Sage Intacct, and Microsoft Excel.
Strong organization, communication, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in all financial tasks.

Responsibilities

Set up and maintain project folders, documents, logs, cost codes, and reporting.
Partner with project teams (Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen) and clients to provide timely project information and documentation.
Support project closeout, including subcontractor documentation and final billing requirements.
Review payment applications and enter invoices in Procore for approval.
Verify licensing, insurance, W-9s, lien releases, and other required compliance documents before payment.
Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to resolve billing or documentation issues.
Prepare accurate monthly client billings according to contract requirements.
Maintain schedules of values and supporting records, including approved change orders.
Review time, expenses, and project costs for accurate billing.
Monitor receivables and follow up on overdue payments.
