About The Position

The Project Accounting Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for tower services project accounting operations, including monthly close activities, financial reporting, project controls, team development, and cross-functional alignment. This role ensures project-related financial information is accurate, timely, compliant, and actionable, enabling leadership to make informed decisions and supporting the organization’s broader financial integrity and operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • Three (3) to five (5) or more years of experience in project accounting or another general ledger function
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant accounting principles (U.S. GAAP)
  • Strong demonstration of leadership ability or prior supervisor experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles related to Project Accounting functions, including revenue recognition and capitalization.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting ERP systems; J.D. Edwards experience preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve workflow issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, and work effectively in a deadline-driven, dynamic environment.
  • Strong reporting, data retrieval, and data organization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant and/or MBA preferred
  • Prior experience with telecommunications, construction or real estate industries a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day Project Accounting functions, including reporting and analysis, while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Lead the team by recruiting, training, coaching, and developing direct reports.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness in the monthly close process and Project Accounting review, including timely completion of financial statements and account reconciliations.
  • Apply accounting policies in accordance with Company policy and S. GAAP, with particular focus on revenue recognition and capitalization.
  • Develop strong business knowledge and collaborate with various levels of the organization to ensure Project Accounting processes and procedures are understood and followed. Identify and address anomalies, inconsistencies, and areas of ambiguity.
  • Support training and timely communication with business areas regarding Project Accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support the maintenance of Project Accounting and operating policies and procedures and recommend improvements through strategic insight.
  • Coordinate and prepare for financial audits by providing information to internal and external audit teams and managing related timetables and deadlines.
  • Monitor and maintain the Company’s finance and accounting control policies and procedures in accordance with SOX requirements.
  • Provide excellent customer service to business areas through partnership, collaboration, timely follow-up, and resolution of matters.
  • Plan, recommend, and implement changes to the project accounting system in partnership with IT and other impacted business partners.
  • Manage special projects and other assignments as needed.
