About The Position

LaPrairie Works Inc. is seeking a Project Accounting Coordinator to join their team in Clairmont, Alberta. This role provides essential day-to-day support for project and accounting functions, including managing purchase orders, processing invoices, tracking job costs, and assisting with billing. The coordinator will work closely with project managers and the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely financial information, supporting efficient project delivery.

Requirements

  • Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in an accounting or administrative support role.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and job costing.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Comfortable working with both office and field teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting systems.
  • Willingness to learn and develop in a project accounting environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction, civil, or project-based environments is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining job cost information for assigned projects.
  • Track project-related costs and ensure proper coding of expenses.
  • Support the preparation of basic cost reports and summaries.
  • Help identify missing or incomplete cost information.
  • Create and maintain purchase orders in company systems.
  • Track commitments and assist in monitoring project spend.
  • Confirm receipt of goods and services with project teams.
  • Ensure documentation is complete and properly recorded.
  • Review invoices for completeness and proper approvals.
  • Assist with coding and submitting invoices for processing.
  • Work with accounting to resolve discrepancies or missing information.
  • Assist in gathering information required for customer billings.
  • Support preparation of progress invoices and documentation.
  • Help ensure alignment between field information and billing.
  • Liaise between project teams and accounting to support information flow.
  • Follow up with field staff on missing receipts, approvals, or details.
  • Provide general administrative support related to project finances.
  • Perform other duties as required.
