About The Position

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care and advocates for patients to support an excellent patient experience. The PCU floor uses a 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio. Nurses are empowered to influence patient care through collaborative relationships with their direct manager and opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), BCLS Instructor, or CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or ACLS Instructor certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• NIHSS Stroke Certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures and other functions as ordered by medical providers.
• Document care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor patient responses.
• Maintain knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care in collaboration with medical providers.
• Advocate for patients and contribute to a positive patient experience.
