We're looking for a full-time contract Program Trainer to support our Crisis team! The Program Trainer will be responsible for supporting the Team by designing, delivering and managing onboarding and training programs for new hires, as well as refresher training for existing team members. This includes creating sustainable training resources, monitoring progress, and ensuring team members are well-equipped to meet program standards.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary school degree or diploma in a relevant field or the equivalent in experience
  • Must be a Regulated Health Professional (Registered Nurse, Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Occupational Therapist) or Registered Social Worker/Social Service Worker and adhere to standards of practice as per designated college
  • Minimum three years of experience working in acute mental health sector, preferably in the community
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training to adults.
  • Experience in conducting training needs assessments and creating learning materials tailored to various learning styles
  • Experience working with e-learning platforms, learning management systems (LMS), or virtual training tools
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
  • Familiarity with training tools and technologies, including e-learning platforms, video conferencing software, and presentation tools
  • Skilled in delivering engaging and interactive training sessions for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license and access to an insured automobile in good repair
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Support new Crisis Program hires, in collaboration with the People and Culture team
  • Develop and implement training programs aligned with evidence-based practices and organizational standards
  • Monitor progress of new hires, providing timely support and addressing challenges as they arise
  • Create and maintain Crisis Services onboarding resources, including training materials and operation guides, to reflect current standards and practices
  • Utilize platforms to develop long-term accessible training content for the team
  • Facilitate sessions to introduce new hires to organizational culture, system and standard operating procedures
  • Provide input to improve and streamline the onboarding and training processes for the Crisis Team.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, such as People and Culture and IT, to ensure new hires have all necessary tools, resources and access
  • Conduct needs assessment to identify skill gaps and develop targeted training initiatives; shadow employees and provide feedback when applicable
  • Provide post onboarding follow-ups to assess the long-term success and integration of new hires into the team
  • Provide ongoing support to employees post-training, addressing questions, offering one-on-one assistance, and facilitating additional learning opportunities as needed
  • Ensure all training programs adhere to company standards, compliance requirements, and best practices
