About The Position

Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Harm Reduction Trainer for the Prevention Program. This role is crucial in our mission to provide a comprehensive continuum of care for people in Louisiana, encompassing primary care, behavioral health, and substance use disorder treatment. The Harm Reduction Trainer will deliver harm reduction/overdose prevention training programs, conduct street outreach, refer individuals to OHL services or other appropriate community resources, and represent the Prevention Program at community outreach events.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent
  • Excellent communication interpersonal skills
  • One year experience providing health education to various populations.
  • Familiarity with the community served by the Agency
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite

  • Skilled and experienced in delivery of health education topics to diverse populations
  • Knowledge of various healthcare issues affecting the community served by the Agency
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish, English/Vietnamese

Responsibilities

  • Provide various community and OHL client naloxone trainings to community based organizations.
  • Inform community members on naloxone use and access through community outreach events.
  • Conduct street outreach, outreach events, trainings at OHL, and trainings at partner agencies, as directed by Program Manager.
  • Conduct data entry and gathering as directed by Program Manager.
  • Work with the harm reduction lead trainer.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all activities for data collection.
  • Responsible for administrative tasks as directed by Program Manager.
  • Responsible for training preparation and facilitation.
  • Refer individuals to OHL for primary medical care and treatment services.
  • Refer individuals to the resource guide as needed.
  • Assist with special projects as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Organize workload to complete responsibilities in an appropriate and timely manner.
