About The Position

Serves as the Program Support Assistant (OA) to the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service. The Program Support Assistant (OA) position consists of duties that will utilize administrative and technical skills, positive communications skills with internal and external customers, and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Must complete all required steps in the process, including an online assessment.
  • Tentatively selected applicants for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
  • Must serve a 1-year probationary period or 2-year trial period.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
  • Examples of specialized experience include: Answering phones and log calls; provides directions and assistance to patients and guests; provides friendly, excellent customer service; greeting patients and offering assistance for appointments; locates appointments in computer system; reports safety concerns.
  • OR Education: Successfully completed four (4) years above high school.
  • OR Combination of Experience & Education: Appropriate combination of specialized experience and education.
  • A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
  • Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment.
  • If using foreign education, must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of memos and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Prepare spreadsheets for tracking and trends.
  • Maintain calendar and schedules appointment, arranges conferences, departmental meetings.
  • Manage entry of OT/CT, FMLA, leave requests.
  • Enter 2237 for equipment turn-in.
  • Maintain cost controls; tracks orders for supplies, equipment, repair; & purchase card ordering.
  • Respond to requests for information, both verbal and written; prepares typed responses to requests.
