The Program Specialist will be responsible for the training, scheduling, evaluation, and retention of Medicare Assistance Program volunteer counselors within their assigned geographic region and will also provide direct counseling of Medicare beneficiaries. Key responsibilities include organizing onboarding for new volunteers, coordination of required training for new volunteers, annual evaluation and recertification of all volunteers, on-going mentoring and programmatic support of volunteers, coordinating volunteer coverage for Open Enrollment events and appointments, supporting Open Enrollment events and working with other staff on the coordination of an annual volunteer recognition event. This position will also assist in the development of learning sessions for volunteers based on volunteer evaluations, surveys and annual changes to Medicare. The specialist will also provide Medicare counseling to beneficiaries or their family member(s) in-person, telephonically or virtually based on the request of the individual calling for assistance. This includes completing follow-up calls with the beneficiary as needed and documenting all counseling contacts in the STARS database. The MI Options Medicare Assistance Program provides free, unbiased assistance to Medicare beneficiaries to help them understand plans, enroll in money-saving programs and troubleshoot problems.
