About The Position

Girls Inc. of Boston and Lynn is hiring Program Specialists/Group Leaders for seasonal School Age Child Care (SACC) programming during the summer. This role involves designing and implementing after-school and out-of-school day programming for girls ages 5-13, aiming to inspire self-sufficiency and responsible community membership. The Program Specialist/Group Leader acts as an advocate for a pro-girl environment, leading research-based programming to equip girls for fulfilling lives, breaking cycles of poverty, and becoming role models. This is a non-exempt position for the summer term from July 6 to September 4, 2026, with a minimum pay rate of $19.00 per hour and eligibility for some paid time off benefits. The role is based at the Lynn office and reports to the SACC Program Director, providing on-site support for program development, implementation, monitoring, and validation of success metrics.

Requirements

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience working with school-aged youth from underserved communities.
  • Experience in program development, program planning, group facilitation, volunteer coordination, partnership building within the community, etc.
  • Working knowledge of developing relevant, engaging programming for girls between the ages of 5-13.
  • Highly developed skills in planning, organizing, and attention to detail.
  • A self-starter with the ability to lead groups and foster cooperation.
  • Effective problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to “pivot” and respond appropriately and with a sense of urgency in critical situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify needs and develop relevant programs.
  • Ability to maintain an inclusive work environment, respectful and supportive of all communities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prepare and complete program reports.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively as a team player across the organization.
  • Capacity to work independently, take initiative, and execute tasks with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in English and Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver special interest activities for girls between the ages of 5 -13.
  • Assists with program planning with other staff members.
  • Keeps the supervisor informed of problems, concerns, needs, trends, and unusual activities.
  • Maintains accurate class records.
  • Participates in staff meetings and training sessions as requested.
  • Organizes and maintains assigned work areas.
  • Monitors outings and beach days.
  • Assists with program transportation service.
  • Carries out other responsibilities as assigned.
