About The Position

The Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) is a social and human services agency whose mission is to successfully partner with families, caregivers, and the community to strengthen families, ensure safety, and achieve permanency for all Arizona’s children through prevention, services, and support. The Program Projects Specialist 2 (PPS 2) processes requests made by field staff for the Department of Child Safety (DCS) clients for Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) claims and reimbursements. In addition, this position provides DCS field staff support with questions/issues as it relates to a need for services for families.

  • Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment.
  • Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record check, must maintain acceptable driving record and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
  • Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintain valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration.
  • The ability to secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • The ability to secure and maintain clearance from the DCS Central Registry.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Office of Procurement and Contracts and the placement unit in regards to Department of Developmental Disability placements/claims/reimbursements.
  • Provides support and assistance to the Resource Unit Supervisor by assisting with training to staff within the unit, acting supervisor duties, updating logs, completion of end of week reports to the Program Administrators and Central Office staff, as well as weekly huddle board metrics.
  • Assists the payment processing unit with adding or correcting service authorizations to resolve billing/payment issues.
  • Serves as a back-up to the PSE 1, 2, or 3 and may process service authorization requests for services for children and adults for parent aide services, supervised visitation, in-home services, building resilient families, psychological or counseling requests, adoptive home-study requests, as well as psychiatric evaluation. May monitor the mailbox, send correspondence to providers, non-contract claims, out-of-state requests or assist with billing/payment issues.
  • Provides technical assistance either in person, by telephone or email to field staff or service providers. Participates and/or attends statewide provider meetings and field unit meetings.
  • Maintains, enters, updates and tracks service authorizations and other GUARDIAN data as requested by the supervisor and Program Manager. Assists with updating tracking logs and completes special projects as assigned by leadership.
