About The Position

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is hiring for a Program Operations & FOIA Compliance Specialist for a position within its Records Access Management department located in our headquarters location in Richmond, VA. The Program Operations & FOIA Compliance Specialist develops and implements key department initiatives. Implementation includes direct stakeholder analysis and management, preparation of status reports, organization and oversight of project teams as needed, development of solutions to challenges, and building of internal and external client relationships. In addition to serving as the primary point of contact for FOIA requests, responsible for ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant responses in accordance with applicable laws and agency policies. The specialist may also serve as the primary program source between DMV and external parters, such as courts, local governments, elected offices, other state agencies, and private stakeholders. The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. In addition, DMV serves a wide array of businesses, including dealers, fuels tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations. Requirements

  • Experience processing or supervising requests submitted pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
  • Experience in progressive administrative management, including planning and directing multiple programs, services, and operations.
  • Experience in program management, program evaluation, data analysis, and the implementation of legislative changes.
  • Knowledge of the statutes and regulations relating to the release of public information.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data collection techniques.
  • Experience in developing and implementing procedures, guidance, analyses, and recommendations.
  • Skilled in navigating between multiple computer applications and software.
