About The Position

Manages the overall operations, activities, and staff of assigned program site within direct area of responsibility. This role involves providing supervision and oversight to direct reports, managing the operational environment of the program site, participating in hiring and termination processes, resolving complex situations, completing and reviewing documentation, and ensuring compliance with various regulations and standards. The Program Manager also plays a role in developing and monitoring treatment plans, evaluating prospective individuals served, reviewing consultant recommendations, participating in special projects, and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes monitoring vehicle usage, following emergency procedures, serving as a role model, providing direct care as needed, and adhering to ethical guidelines and training requirements.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited college with a BA in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech/Language Pathology, Social Work, Recreation, Art, Dance, Music, Physical Education, Nutrition, Sociology, Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, or Psychology AND possesses at least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or brain injuries.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required with two-three years in the Human Services or related field.
  • Prior management experience.
  • A strong desire to work with neurologically-challenged individuals.

Nice To Haves

  • BA in a related field plus one year of related experience preferred.
  • Brain Injury/BIS Day Treatment Program Managers are required to achieve certification from the American Academy for the Certification of Brain Injury Specialists (AACBIS) within the first 18 months of employment, and maintain ongoing annual certification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and oversight to direct reports regarding the daily care, instruction, and safety of persons served.
  • Ensures proper staffing levels and work distribution within assigned program site.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings and attends program management meetings.
  • Attends various internal management meetings, external conferences, Interdisciplinary (IDT) and/or Trans-Disciplinary (TDT) meetings, family conferences, etc.
  • Manages the ongoing job performance of direct reports, including performance evaluations, feedback, and disciplinary action.
  • Appropriately delegates work responsibilities.
  • Supports the professional development and career growth of direct reports.
  • Manages the overall operations, activities, and overall environment of the program site.
  • Ensures adherence to all established policies and procedures.
  • Complies with state regulations and accreditation standards for safety, security, cleanliness, and comfort.
  • Provides on-call and rotational support for 24 hour/7 day a week programs.
  • Ensures 24 hour/7day a week management and oversight of program site, staff, and persons served.
  • Conducts treatment integrity checks for program staff.
  • Monitors direct costs and efficiency of spending for program site and persons served.
  • Contributes to ensuring the program site operates within the established fiscal budget and may provide input for annual budget preparation.
  • Assists in and/or develops work schedules to reduce costs and budget variances.
  • Actively participates in the applicant hiring and termination process.
  • Interviews and screens applicants to identify qualified candidates.
  • Aids in the resolution of problematic, more sensitive, or more complicated situations while encouraging the independence of the person served.
  • Exercises appropriate judgment in addressing specific situations and responds with effective solutions or promptly notifies program management.
  • Completes daily, monthly, and quarterly paperwork for submission to program management.
  • Reviews required paperwork completed by direct reports for accuracy and submits to program management.
  • Ensures the maintenance of all documentation as required by state regulations and program management.
  • Ensures the overall integrity of behavior and/or medical records and files for persons served.
  • Develops, coordinates, and monitors the IPP, IDT and/or TDT process.
  • Ensures the timely implementation of appropriate treatment plans for each person served.
  • Evaluates prospective persons served at screening meetings and recommends appropriate staffing levels.
  • Reviews consults from medical and therapeutic consultants for persons served.
  • Ensures implementation of care plan and adherence to medical orders.
  • Actively participates in special projects related to behavioral treatment, clinical outcome, and research activities.
  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of performance improvement systems for assigned program site.
  • Maintains effective communications with persons served, parents, guardians, other family members, healthcare personnel, manager, coworkers, neighbors, and communities.
  • Operates in accordance with the Confirmation of Understanding or Plan of Care for each person served.
  • Serves as an advocate on behalf of persons served.
  • Monitors the usage of transportation vehicles assigned to specific program site.
  • Ensures the ongoing routine maintenance and cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
  • Follows state-approved emergency procedures and Bancroft-approved crisis intervention techniques.
  • Serves as a role model to persons served.
  • Provides direct care to persons served at specific program site, as necessary.
  • Performs other related management duties as assigned or as necessary.
  • Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments.

  • Remains current with required training certifications, meets state-regulated licensing and regulatory accreditations, and adheres to mandatory requirements.
  • Maintains effective verbal and written communications with colleagues, those served, and their family members and/or guardians.
  • Cooperates with Bancroft, The Department of Human Services, The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agency or local municipalities in any inspections and investigations.
  • Maintains a safe and respectful environment, free of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
  • Reports any violations to the appropriate individual as soon as the incident occurs.
  • Maintains levels of supervision as defined in behavior plans.
