The Transformation Office is responsible for driving enterprise-wide strategic transformation across Northern Trust, partnering with senior leaders to translate strategy into measurable, sustained business outcomes. With a significant focus on transforming Wealth Management, the team leads complex initiatives across strategy, operating model design, data and AI, technology, and change management to reimagine how we serve clients, empower employees, and drive growth. Through a combination of strategic execution, innovation, and disciplined delivery, the Transformation Office builds the capabilities, frameworks, and solutions that enable lasting impact across Wealth Management and the broader enterprise. The Program Manager plays a critical role in delivering strategic transformation initiatives that support Northern Trust's long-term growth and business objectives. Working as part of the Transformation Office, this role is responsible for coordinating and executing complex programs and projects, ensuring alignment across stakeholders, managing risks and dependencies, and driving successful delivery of business outcomes. This is a highly collaborative individual contributor role that requires strong program management expertise, stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to operate effectively within a dynamic, matrixed environment.

Requirements

  • Strong program and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to coordinate and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare materials for executive audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive outcomes in fast-paced transformation environments.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on execution, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5–10 years of program or project management experience, preferably within financial services or a similarly complex, regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting large-scale, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project plans, risks, dependencies, governance processes, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of enterprise and Wealth Management transformation programs, coordinating multiple projects, workstreams, and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain program plans, timelines, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and action items.
  • Partner with business, technology, data, operations, and other functional teams to drive execution and ensure alignment on priorities and deliverables.
  • Monitor program progress, identify potential roadblocks, and proactively recommend solutions to keep initiatives on track.
  • Prepare governance materials, status updates, executive summaries, and program reporting for leadership stakeholders.
  • Facilitate working sessions, steering committee meetings, and cross-functional discussions to support decision-making and issue resolution.
  • Track key deliverables, business outcomes, and benefits realization metrics.
  • Support change management and adoption activities to help ensure successful implementation of new capabilities and processes.
  • Apply analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex business challenges and support strategic decision-making.
