About The Position

Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7- 17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities. We are licensed by The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility. Website: https://harborpointbhc.com/ Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center is seeking a Program Director to join our team. Position Scope: Provides assistance and support to the management of the milieu and unit/ units assigned as well as leadership, administrative direction and supervision of staff. Ensures consistent use of the residential care process in providing quality care and acts as a resource to all direct care staff. Assists in training residential care staff. Implements programming and provides ongoing training and supervision to create and maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu. Mains patient safety. Collaborates with other department personnel in establishing and complying with resident care standards, policies, procedures and protocols. Monitors utilization of resources to provide cost effective care. Provides primary channels of communication for physicians, therapists, caseworkers, CEO, DON, facility managers and administrators. Serves as a role model for residents to observe and learn socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors and demonstrates Service Excellence.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups and individuals
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information
  • Knowledge of therapeutic relationships as it relates to children and adolescents
  • Knowledge of therapeutic processes
  • Knowledge of child/adolescent growth and development
  • Knowledge of limit setting and behavior management
  • Knowledge of crisis management of aggressive behaviors
  • Demonstrates knowledge of risk factors for violence and determining potential for violent acting out
  • Ability to assess suicidal/homicidal ideations
  • On call requirements required
  • Ability to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily
  • Handle with Care, CPR and First Aid certifications
