Job Summary: Location: Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center Address: 8303 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week Enhance patient safety by fostering a culture of high reliability through detailed incident review, comprehensive analysis, and robust process improvement. Requires an understanding of healthcare systems, strong leadership, and effective communication skills to collaborate closely with frontline staff, providers, and administrators. Leading efforts to encourage incident reporting and investigation, you will drive initiatives to prevent future occurrences and cultivate an environment of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare field required.
  • Two years of acute hospital experience required.
  • Interpersonal skills for interacting with patients/families on a daily basis, and communicating effectively with physicians, clients and other Nebraska Health System departments.
  • Must be able to work independently with excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge in office procedures, accounting, human resources management, and insurance knowledge.
  • Effective computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and outlook.
  • Ability to supervise, and counsel others to revolve issues/problems, and create positive outcomes.
  • Ability to process, and manage confidential information with discretion, and according to HIPAA protocols.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with outpatients in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading strategic initiatives, improving quality, creating/implementing healthcare regulatory standards and/or overseeing denial management preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma training and/or certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides on-site coordination of the Head and Neck Clinics by efficiently organizing a schedule to fit physician and patient needs, gather patient information and record follow up recommendations.
  • Preparation of schedules for supervising team and align schedules to meet needs of patients and physicians.
  • Coordinates/collaborates with ancillary departments.
  • Effectively organizes schedules and patient records for the clinics and conferences.
  • Prioritizes data collection according to patients’ immediate needs.
  • Assures appropriate staffing levels for patient care and operations.
  • Facilitates the hiring and training of staff.
  • Adjusts staffing appropriate to patient load.
  • Supervises and mentor’s clinic staff, including administrative personnel, nurse navigators, and medical assistants.
  • Reviews time sheets on a weekly basis.
  • Monitors staff overtime.
  • Ensures safety, competency and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Collaborates in safety and regulatory activities such as TJC readiness activities.
  • Ensures checklists are completed as required.
  • Reviews policies as requested.
  • Completes NOTEs (Notation on the Event) and follow up with appropriate action.
  • Participates in identification, analysis, reduction and evaluation of risk issues.
  • Monitors on an ongoing basis environmental safety issues and appropriate interventions.
  • Reports issues/trends to Service Executive.
  • Oversee the data collection and policies that guide accreditation and performance improvement activities.
  • Supervises and promotes a positive work environment that encourages employee development, employee involvement and employee satisfaction.
  • Establishes good rapport with staff members and peers.
  • Immediately addresses issues that may prevent a positive work environment.
  • Encourages staff to voice their concerns and works to address the issues.
  • Encourages staff to seek professional development and education.
  • Coordinates and leads meetings with direct reports no less than once per quarter.
  • Promotes a collaborative relationship with Medical Staff.
  • Establishes a good working relationship with the medical staff.
  • Seeks opinions of the physicians on ways to improve operations.
  • Develops and implements the short- and long-range initiatives which are congruent with the hospital mission, vision, and core values.
  • Reviews previous and create department initiatives/goals on an annual basis.
  • Reviews the initiatives/goals with staff for input and acceptance.
  • Presents annual initiatives/goals to Service Executive.
  • Presents at least one performance improvement initiative annually.
  • Reviews financial spending in responsible areas to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Conducts monthly reviews of responsibility reports and addresses any variances.
  • Demonstrates responsibility in fiscal management of the department Ensures the implementation of department policies and procedures encompassing the needs of the patent population are assessed, met, and evaluated.
  • Creates an environment to identify opportunities for and give individualized customer service/patient care according to customer/patient needs.
